Hey Guys,

We've added some awesome new features with this new forum system and we're really excited for you to experience them! I've listed some below and we may be adding them as more are discovered. I've also added some issues we had with the previous forums to compare and contrast the two.

Overall the forums are running much faster and smoother! If you find any features that you enjoy that aren't listed here, please feel free to reply and let us know!


New Forum Features

New posts are bolded making it much easier to pick up where you left off.
Posting controls are much simpler and images are much easier to post.
Members now have the ability to "Friend" one another.
Members can update their status.
Users can ignore an individual signature or all signatures.
Users can rate one another.
Users can “Like” individual posts. Posts can be sorted by "Likes."
Life Members, Plank Owners and Crew Leaders can customize their profile and add a profile background image.
Life Members, Plank Owners and Crew Leaders can add and customize a signature with text and/or an image.
Topics can be previewed before they are fully opened.
Life Members, Plank Owners and Crew Leaders have inbox storage raised to 250 messages.
Users can use the Multiple Quote feature to quote multiple posts from multiple users in their post.
Users can add Spoiler Alerts to posts.
Images now display full size but must be hosted on external photo sharing site.
Trade Room is a Paid Members Only Feature (Life Members, Plank Owners and Crew Leaders) where Members can Swap their Gear

Previous Forum Issues

Image sizes were never standardized and some would not load properly.
Slow to load and extreme amounts of lag.
Errors in posting would result in double posts.
Text constantly would not format properly.
PM System unnecessarily complicated

it's surprising how much I missed the forums while they were down.

This new forum feels way much better than the old one. I commented about it on Twitter the other day also. The old one I always found to be a bit hard to navigate and to read.

Applauds for this. I check in here every day. Now I just need to learn to contribute!

The only issue I have with the new forum is that I wasn't able to log into the forums even though I was logged into the site. After entering my password a few times last night on my phone, it locked my account for 5 minutes because it said I was using the wrong password. Tried again this morning at work and it said it was a bad password. I reset my forum password, but I'm confused about why logging into the ITS main site didn't log me into the forums as well.

That being said, I like the new features and look of the new forums!

I think the reason for that Psybain is because the old forums utilized Wordpresses database (the back end software that the website runs on).
These new forums are a lot more robust but require their own user database... you should be happy they could port your user data and posts at all =D
On top of the many good things about ITS Tactical is that the guy running the site and forums seems to know what he's doing.

What he said. Really though, sorry we didn't respond till now. DStevenson is right. I guess that's one of the little hiccups in getting up to speed so far. Glad you are liking the Forum though. We all feel this is a good step in the right direction.

Yeah, I've been through a few forum reboots on other sites and watched all of the old threads go down the drain. The only thing I'm having trouble with now is changing the password to something else on here, but I think that's mostly due to the fact that we are stuck using IE7 at work. I'll give it a shot again when I get home.

Thanks again to all of the ITS Crew for working hard to keep the site looking good with added functionality.

Stupid NMCI and their failure IE7. I was able to get full functionality of the new forums once I got home. Password successfully changed, disregard my previous (quoted) statement.

Nicely done, guys, and thank you for all the hard work.  I haven't started exploring many of the new features yet but the increase in basic loading speed is a vast improvement in and of itself.
